This assignment is concerning with a promotional plan as well as an integrated marketing communication plan of a well-known fashion manufacturing and designing company, ZARA. In a general view, we know that planning is a way of looking to the future and deciding what the organization or the business can do in the future.
Textile and clothing manufacture businesses play an important role in the market and especially in developing countries. Clothing plays a meaningful role in our human society and fashion has become a very important part of many people’s lives. Over the history, fashion changed in a sufficiently way, but its core function continued to be the same with people following always the latest trends.
However, the apparel industry is highly competitive and is difficult for a company to survive in a tough environment. The expansion of textile and clothing production is tremendous and correct strategies are very important for companies in order to be competitive and responsive to environmental changes.
ZARA is a Spanish brand of clothing and accessories based in Arteixo, Galicia. The company was founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera and it is the main selling brand of one of the biggest group, Inditex. The fashion retailer company of Inditex also owns other 7 brands namely, Zara Home, Stradivarius, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Pull;Bear, Oysho and Uterque.
ZARA stores offer designs for men clothing, women clothing and children clothing (Kids Zara). They offer in the market a wide range of clothing and the products are supplied based on trends of the consumers. Following the “instant fashion” trend they are in the middle of a very highly competitive fashion market and this approach make ZARA’s fashion to be unique. The products after have been designed, reach to the stores in ten or fifteen days and the new products are shipped to the stores twice a week. ZARA’s production is almost over 450 million items per year.
Amancio Ortega opened the first store of ZARA in downtown A Coruña, Galicia, Spain, in 1975 and now has become one of paramount importance player in the fashion industry. With the passage of time Ortega started the company’s international expansion the year of 1988. Now, there are over 2,200 Zara stores located in about 95 countries in the world.
