Role play in the classroom is a method of teaching in which students take the part of someone else’s character through dialogues and actions, so that they are able to understand a situation and view it from a different angle than they generally do.
Children can be uncomfortable at first as they might feel like under pressure not to make a mistake on any action or dialogues or they may feel shy to perform. But as they are engaged in the play, they will overcome those difficulties and start to improvise and felt comfortable with the character.
Although different play activities promote children’s in different ways, Keenan (2002) identifies a number of areas of development that are impacted or enhanced by play, including cognition, language and communication, social, and emotional.
